  1. We loved the movie open season and mama is a fan of law and order svu so once we found out he was a boy it just clicked

  2. Elliott means the Lord is our God, which is why we chose the name!

  3. We chose it with our baby’s birth mother. It has a deep spiritual meaning for all of us. We wanted something timeless and strong.

  4. Elliott has been my favorite baby name since I was a child. I wrote the name in my diary at age 8. When I met my husband, I told him that we would have a son together named Elliott (which was probably too forward but oh well!) and now our son is almost 10 months old. I chose it because I always admired the character Elliott from the film E.T. He was so compassionate, sensitive, and loving. I wish for my son to also have the ability to connect with all life forms, human and nature, in a sensitive way.

    • My 4 year old brothers name is Elliott!

  5. We names our son Elliott 1. Because I fell on love with the name and also 2. Because it’s my dad’s middle name. It’s such a beautiful name and we get compliments all the time

  6. I picked the name Elliott because I wanted my baby to have strength. This world is getting darker all the time and I wanted to raise my son with a backbone and a heart for God, because he will need it. I actually named him after the missionary, Jim Elliot, who was martyred in the late 1950’s by the Auca Indians in Ecuador. Mr. Elliot knew before he went that he could face death, but went anyway and had no fear. He was ready to give his life for what was real and for what mattered. As a mother, I do not with suffering or death on my child. I only wish that he will have this kind of strength to face whatever he has to; the kind of strength Jim Elliot had. I also hope he will have the same passion for the Lord as Mr. Elliot. I spelled his name with 2 “t”s instead of one, because my sister suggested it and I wanted her to feel involved. I also like the way it looks- more balanced. And that is the story of how and why I named my firstborn Elliott. <3

  7. Greek translation of Hebrew name Elijah.

  8. We chose the name Elliott because our family owns a pecan orchard and most of our trees produce an “Elliot” pecan, so it means a lot to our family. Also Elliott is a strong prestigious sounding name. In my opinion Elliott is not a name for a girl.

  9. It was the name my husband and I could agree on.

  10. Elliott has been my favorite boy name for years and one reason I chose this name is because there aren’t really any nicknames for it, which I think means people like saying the word Elliott and dont feel the need to shorten it! For me it rolls off the tongue and can be said in a cutesy way for a baby but can also sound very adult like, so I think someone named Elliott will be taken seriously at any age. Also, my last name has almost all of the same letters as Elliott so the two names are basically anagrams and sound great together.

  11. His dad named him after a singer tgat he liked.

  12. My maiden name was Elliott so as a tribute to my father we chose Elliott (I also really liked my maiden name and wanted to keep it in the family didn’t fully enjoy giving it up when I got married lol)

  13. Father’s name

  14. Not too common, but recognizable and spellable.
Cute for a kid, but transitions well to adulthood.

  15. We wanted to find something that fit his dads last name as well as a hyphenated middle name. Dad was too stubborn to like any of the names mom had planned to use for years and he kept naming off old time names. The minute he said Elliott I knew that was the name. It blends together so well with the rest of his name which I love. Plus it’s not a very common name to be used in our area so it was as if we chose something unique as well.

  16. I chose this name because it is uncommon yet not too unusual! It’s a strong name.

  17. Elliott is a variant of Elijah and means “the LORD is my God”. It was important for us to have a name with a biblical meaning.
