It is a family name and I love the abbreviation Ali. It means noble and kind. Alice was never a name. I thought I would pick for my daughter, but my husband and I have settled on it and we couldn’t be happier.

I have always loved the name Alice, and I knew one day I would name my daughter Alice. My mothers name is Alicia and my husband’s grandmothers name is Alicia as well. So the name Alice comes from their name.

My middle name is Alene (Alan) as a combination of my 2 grandmothers; Alice and Helene. We named our baby girl Alice Ruth (Ruth was my grandma Helene’s middle name). I also like older names that you don’t hear often and my husband is excited to be the mad hatter at all their future tea parties!!

I was in my office and the name “Alice” popped in my head like a divine calling card from the womb. When I proposed it to my husband, we looked it up and it means “noble” and it is a german name. My husband and I both really like the meaning and the origin of the name as my husband’s family comes from Germany!

My husband and I chose the name Alice for our daughter because its so simple yet classic. Baby girls have been called Alice for nearly a thousand years. Queens and presidents have had little girls named Alice. It was timeless to us. It was familiar enough that everyone knows how to spell it and Alice fits in with the trend of more vintage names that going on at the moment. The only thing I don’t like about it is it might be too popular.

We named her after Alice in Wonderland and I’m not even ashamed to say that! Alice to me means marching to the beat of her own drum. Also I always wanted to open a book and find a strong female character with my name. One thing I’m not fond of with the name Alice is the nickname of Ali, we call her Al.

We wanted a simple, short and sweet name that started with an A. We had learned in an audiobook that names that start with the first letters of the alphabet are more easily remembered. That’s how we came up with Alice and we love it.

Alice has a very special meaning for me. It is an anagram of my mother’s name. I was incredibly close to my Mum, she was an amazing woman. Sadly she passed away while I was pregnant with my Alice Celia. Alice always gets complimented on her name and it really suits her.
