  2. Beautiful Italian name meaning bright & luminous. She is the light of our lives.

  3. I love Italian names and always loved that name. It actually wasn’t on my original list of names but little by little I went discarding all names I had as most of them were all apparently too common now/here and I wanted something more original, and others maybe ny husband didn’t love or weren’t adecuate for Nicaragua where I live. And suddenly Chiara came to me, my husband loved it, I looked up meaning (light &bright) and said yep this is her name!

  4. Chiara is the Italian form of the name Claire, and we named our daughter after St. Clare of Assisi (whose name, in her language, was Chiara). She was my Confirmation Saint. We were nervous about Americans mispronouncing Chiara’s name, but ultimately decided that it is not so difficult to pronounce in English (even if the R is not pronounced properly most of the time; Chiara is pronounced key-Ah-rah, with a flap R sound as would be used in Italian or Spanish). Her name is beautiful, rolls off the tongue, reminds us of my husband’s heritage, and brings to mind several incredible women (in addition to St. Clare, look up Chiara Luce Badano and Chiara Corbella Petrillo).
