  2. We were between Elsie and Ellie. Then we decided to put music on and we saw the soundtrack to the movie, Amelie. We like it because it’s girlie and not common in the states.

  3. I love everything French and I’ve always just loved the name Amelie. It’s feminine, unique, and not common here in the US. I didn’t want a name that was too popular.

  5. My names Amelie and the pronunciation is (a me lee) but most people say (ama lee) aswell it gets confused with Emily and Amelia.

  7. We chose Amelie because of its sweet and romantic nature. My husband is German and the Amelie is fairly popular there – in the top 20 names of 2018 for little girls in Deutschland – and we wanted a name that suited both cultures. We were surprised by how few Americans could pronounce Amelie! We didn’t tell anyone before our baby’s birth our short list of potential names because otherwise we would have received that feedback much earlier and perhaps selected a name easier to pronounce in English.
