I was announcing a youth Allstar game, and I announced the Name Tyson. At that moment I called my son’s mom to the booth and told her that was the boys name. I got some flack from my redneck step father and Father in Law, because it was a “Black Man’s” name. I never budged, only saying to them . “Your names are Joseph and Timothy” Many Black men have your names. SMH. At 2 years old the man’s son who baptized my boy was named… Tyson. (Meaning Fiery) At 18 Tyson went on to play College football in the NAIA, who’s name was the Fire. Name fits perfectly. In 1999, I named his brother Cayden, Ironically means Fighter.
