  1. I chose the name August cause it just sounded amazing. I just was thinking of me but my husband like he made it sound so weird. He was like August is a girl name. He shouldn’t have that name. August is a very noisy baby 22 weeks and I heard that should happen around six months like the little baby blabbing. It’s so cute.

  6. I adopted my granddaughter unexpectedly and brought her home from the hospital when she was two days old on August 1 st. I had less then 12 hours to pick out the name before my daughter mailed out the birth certificate. My husband and I ended up going with August Rae. If I had more time maybe I would have picked out something different. But I still love it to this day. There iis something so nostalgic about the name August ?

  8. My ancestor who came to the USA and established our family line here was named Augustus and we love family names. We liked August for a girl or boy’s name. I’m not crazy about “Auggie” as a nickname, but “Gus” doesn’t bother me, we’ll just have to see what he grows up to prefer!

  9. I have wanted a little Augie toddling around since I was in high school. We knew August was a family name (my father, grandfather, & great grandfather). It wasn’t until we started researching my family tree to find that it goes back many generations. The OG August hailed from Switzerland and spoke French. That’s as far back as we could go. It’s fascinating and I’m happy we’re honoring my ancestors by continuing the tradition. While he won’t have the same last name, August is a strong enough name that I can see it continuing down the line.

    We felt Maxwell was a strong addition and flowed nicely as a middle name. Almost 7 years later and I’m still obsessed.

  24. My husband and I literally went through thousands of names. We wanted a solid name that paired well with his last name and if it had a likable nickname would be a great bonus. “Augie” is the nickname we are going with, not Gus (which is the only possible dislike of this name that could come up). While there isn’t any nostalgic or personal reason to pick the name, it did turn out that our first ultrasound where we could actually see our baby was in the month of August. But that was pure coincidence.

  26. All of our children’s names come from within our family tree and have a German heritage. My eldest son and my paternal great-great grandfather share the same first and last names. He was the first of our family to immigrate from Germany and family legend says he was tough as nails. We wanted names that we unique but not impossible to say or pronounce. We liked that it could also be for a boy or girl. And we could use the nickname Gus if we wanted. Our August is 5 years old now and he’s absolutely an August! Fiery, strong, independent!

  29. The name August was a name my husband and I spiritually believed was meant for our son. We didn’t know the gender until birth, but when we saw him it just fit so perfectly. He shares his fathers middle name Allan.
    What we didn’t know was that the man who abandoned my husband’s father was named Augustus so my FIL wasn’t too happy. But, now everyone loves it and him so much they don’t even care.

    Our son, August, is a very intense and smart baby but seems very picky so far! He is such a joy and SO handsome!

It is traditionally a man’s name, but recently it’s become more gender neutral so some people have assumed my son was a girl. His middle name is Eugene and I’m really happy we picked this name 🙂
