Adam Name Meaning

A name that parents have adored since the beginning of time, literally, Adam was the first man according to Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Kindhearted with timeless appeal, Adam has regularly appeared on the baby name charts since they were created.

His Biblical side gives him added charm for many, his path towards righteousness after sin a wonderful association. His roots as the foundation of man give him added depth, anchoring him as a solid choice for years to come. He also appears as Saint Adam in Catholicism, serving as the patron saint of gardeners. It wouldn’t for your little Adam to have an impressive green thumb, huh?

Despite having a powerful back story, Adam is gentle in sound. He’s not as harsh as other monikers, fitting in well with sweet boy names like Liam and Noah. He’s darling on a little boy, a name of wonder and imagination. He’s a curious kid with a kind spirit, more in sync with nature and the cosmos than the distractions of today. He ages easily into adulthood, not at all feeling childlike or trendy. He has a good heart and isn’t a stranger to generosity, the first to lend a helping hand to a friend in need.

  1. My name is Adam and I hate myself. I look in the mirror and my chest goes heavy. I blink back tears as receptionists call my name. ‘Adam for the dentist?’ No. No I don’t want to. That’s not me. Please. My mother died in childbirth. What am I supposed to do?! She picked it. She got me into this. She wasn’t even catholic, silly cow. If I could change anything in the world, it Wouldn’t be the inherent fascism built into the system. It wouldn’t be anything but my name. And before you morons come calling, “just change your name?” YOU DON’T GET IT. I’m a MORMON. My father is vehemently against me changing it. Says I’m disrespecting my cow of a dead mother. I won’t live this down. “The things you own end up owning you.” – Tyler Durden, Fight Club 1999. Which just so happens to be my birth year. Sorry not sorry, (cow) ma.

  2. I named my son Adam after my late brother.

  3. He is a gift from God

  4. We chose Adam because we wanted him to be a junior. Both my husband and I have biblical names so it was important that little man have one too.

  5. My name is Adam and I like it. I’m half italian so sometimes referred to as Adamo. But I like the name regardless. Both sides of my family like this name. My mom’s side my millenial cousin thought of this name for his son. I’m 22/gen z and fins the name applicable at all ages for males.

  6. His full name is Adam Paul. He is named after his dad. Adam Paul means “humble man.” My husband/his dad is the most humble, amazing man. My prayer and hope is that he will grow to be a humble man like his dad. It can also mean “little man,” so I love that he will always be my little man!

  7. I love the name Adam

  8. Classic. Not too common anymore. Easy to spell and pronounce.

  9. His fathers name and my first son

  10. Chose this one all by myseld and u couldn’t be happier! Adam bc of the Catholic meaning and just always loved it. Also not very popular. And Kenneth after my grandpa who had passed when i was pregnant. He was my best friend?it meant a lot to carry on his name ?

  11. Short, Biblical, and manly. Sounds good with our weird last name.

    • And your name is…?

  12. Bible name

  13. *named him after his father.
*i don’t dislike my son name.

  14. I chose the name Adam because its a biblical name. Adam from Adam and Eve

  15. Adam is the first man our creator made. And that is why I call my first child adam. He is the first to us

  16. He is my second stepchild that we have full custody of so I didn’t pick his name but he was named after his father so he is a jr. We call him AJ for short

  17. As a multicultural family (Morocco-US) we constantly strive to balance family and cultural interests. Baby names are no exception! When I was pregnant someone mentioned the name “Adam” because it works very well in both English and Arabic and is easy to pronounce in each language, so all the family members would be able to say it and even be able to relate it to the same Biblical/Quranic person. Double-win! However, I told my friend that I didn’t really like that name. I said, “I’m not sure why,” because when you’re pregnant do you ever really know ‘why’?, “but I just don’t like that name. Perhaps there was someone I knew who had that name and I didn’t like him… I don’t know. Any other ideas?” We continued to brainstorm, but nothing popped up.
Then, when the little guy was born I was so happy full of joy! He was considerate from the get-go (with some unnecessary crying on the second night, but pretty smooth sailing after that!) and was even born at the reasonable hour of 8PM so that everyone could get some much-needed rest. The next morning I looked down at him in my arms and he just looked like an “Adam.” I did not have that experience with my first two children, so it was quite a shock and such a clear thought. “Adam,” I thought, “that is your name!” I almost laughed when I thought it and I told my husband later on that his name ought to be “Adam.” Everyone in the family loved our choice, and they can all pronounce it!

  18. We liked Adam because my husband and I each have a cousin named Adam who is a scientist! We also wanted something Biblical. And we wanted a four letter name to go along with his older brother’s name. We like that it has no nicknames.
