I was moms 9th child and so she had a gard time with a name for me. When she was in hospital to have me, a nurse came in and the name on her tag was Twila, I guess mom liked it a lot and that’s how I got my name. Mom also used to call me Twi- Di, I got a kick out of that. Hi to all the Twilas out there no matter how your name is spelled!! We wanted to give her a unique, special name and pray that she honors other people and makes them feel important! I love how whimsical and cute the name is! We also have shortened it to Ila which we love too! Reply Twila Mar 25 at 9:20 pm My given name is Twila Jean. It would seem the two names go together. I have only ever met 1 other Twila. And she spelled it with a Y instead of an I. Usually, I will hear a patient say, “My mom’s name was Twila!”, and she’s 80+. LOL.
