We chose the name Simon because we like the meaning “God has heard” and we were praying for children and God indeed heard! I did prefer Samuel originally but that name sounds too much like another of our family’s and would have been confusing; but Simon and Samuel mean the same.

My husband and I still didn’t have a name when he was born, and we are only given 2 days to choose (I live in Thailand). So we were looking up baby names the entire time we were in the hospital. It was difficult because my husband is Lao, and we wanted to make it an easy name for his family to pronounce. We came across Simon and loved how it sounded, and it suited our little boy so well. It’s such a simple name, but also a classic.
