  1. Our second son is Simeon, but named with the priest in Luke’s gospel in mind. He recognised the baby Jesus as Messiah, having served God in the Temple faithfully throughout his life.

    • This is the inspiration for our Simeon too, due to arrive this summer. We love the account of Simeon in the Temple, and we would pray for a similar character and devotion in our church. We have to be careful to say that the Old Testament Simeon is not so much a model to be followed… ?

  2. My name is Simeon and I agree it is the cutest name ever! I have a lot of nicknames from my family (Sim, Simmy, Simmerz — haha). The Spanish/Filipino pronunciation — “seem-YOWN” — is also beautiful, and I love the biblical and Hebrew meaning of my name (one who listens, obedient one, little hyena, one who hears). : )

  3. I’ve always loved the story of Simeon found in Luke in the Bible 🙂 I want my son to be a man seeking after and in tune with God like the Simeon in that story. We call our Simeon- Sam.

  4. It was really hard for me and my husband to agree on a name. Which is weird because I just said so Simeon is cute. Then he was like yeah that sounds good. While still in shock i said the meaning of the name Simeon is obedient and a good listener. Then there was no way we were going to pass up an opportunity like this. I just love the name and we call him Simmy. Every little bit helps right?
