(I was 10 years old at the time). I knew then k wanted my daughter’s name to be Mariah; however, I wanted a more biblical name. So I researched and there is a Mt. Moriah in the Bible. Thus, Moriah became the name I chose. The hard thing with this name is it is three syllabus’s. This makes it had to say fast. So, I’m still trying to find a good nick name for her. But, overall I love this name! This name means “Seen by God”. Reply Moriah Aug 24 at 8:35 am I love my name. It means God is My Teacher and the land of the mountains in Jerusalem. What I don’t like is that everyone often confuses “MAriah” and “MOriah.” They are NOT the same. Moriah is in the Bible, while Mariah is just a [what people think is unique] way of spelling Mariah.
