  1. My husband liked the name Mary and I knew a lot of people named Mary so I looked through all the variations of Mary and we landed on Maren (pronounced Mar-en). It means “of the sea” which definitely describes our daughter’s intensity, strength, and little bit of wildness.

    • yes my parents gave me this name and im exited to give my daughter it

  2. We fell in love with this name. We wanted something traditional, but not super trendy. Plus, the name has special meaning for our family; My husband is of Scandinavian descent; and the men in his family love to fish. Plus, my Mother’s middle name is Marie and my Mother-in-Law’s first name is Mary; so in away our daughter is named in honor both of her grandmother’s.

  3. Wanted a Marian name and Maren means star of the sea and Anorher version is Mary in Latin

  4. It was a character in my husband’s favorite game

  5. We loved the meaning of Maren- “of the sea” – we wanted our baby girl to have all of the strength, depth and beauty of the sea.

  6. We have a tradition of using different family name combinations to make “new” names… mine is a combo of my grandmother’s names and so is my daughter’s–Mary + Noren = Maren
